The diplomatic row between Malaysia and North Korea has intensified after authorities in Malaysia issued a warning stating that they’ll soon begin deporting North Korean’s without valid papers.
Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced in Kuala Lumpur that Malaysia will begin with the deportation of 50 North Koreans working in the country without valid documentation.
Zahid said that those with valid visas can stay but informed that North Korean’s who are mainly in businesses including coal mining and construction and are without valid visas will be deported to Pyongyang.
The Deputy Prime Minister also said that formal talks are on-going to bring back the nine Malaysians stranded in Pyongyang.
According to reports, the 50 overstayed workers, part of the 140 North Korean nationals working in the state of Sarawak, came to light after the two countries barred each other`s citizens from leaving over an on-going probe into the assassination of Kim Jong Nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean President Kim Jong UN.
