Mother of Six arrested for throwing her day - old baby into a soakaway pit.
A woman identified as Juliana James has been apprehended by Bauchi state police force on Firday for throwing her day - old baby inside a soakaway pit.
While parading the suspect, she wept bitterly and laid the blame on the recent hardahip in the country . she lamented that she already has six children and cannot take care of the seventh one as the husband has no job and have been hospitalised for three months now. She said immediately she delivered the baby at home, she forced her inside a soakaway pit to get rid of her without telling her husband.
The day old baby was rescued after six hours by neighbours who heard her cry, brought her out and rushed her to Abubakar Tafawa Belewa Teaching Hospital for immediate medical treatment.
Speaking on the matter, Bauchi state commissioner of police acknowledged the case and said it is been investigated while the baby has been handled over to social welfare officers in the hospital.
